AN ARDENT CALL TO PARIJANS AT THE AUSPICIOUS ADVENT OF SPRING AND THE BEGINNIG OF VIKRAM SAMWAT 2062
With the end of a long, chilly and dreary winter, we have entered a brief interlude of spring, when nature is pulsating with exuberant dance of vivid hues of flora and an upsurge of luxuriant life.
During the two-month period of March-April, this year, we will have occasions to celebrate a number of sacred Parvas and Jayantis :
• MahaShivratri (March 8) - when we will rededicate ourselves to be glad and willing instruments and channels for the flow of divine energy of MahaShiva, the Supreme Being, which is extraordinarily active at the present epoch- changing juncture of swift, revolutionary transformation and upliftment of human consciousness. Let us offer ourselves for unhindered flow of this divine energy.
• Holi Parva (March 25-26) - signifying our resolve to root out and burn up all debris of evil tendencies from our psyche, symbolically by Holi bonfire, on March 25 and replacing them with divine attributes of love, laughter and joy through play of colors on March 26.
• Chaitra Navratra Parva (April 9-18) - which marks the transit of nature from verdant, vibrant spring to hot, scorching summer. This nine-day sacred Parva is of very special significance for Gayatri Pariwar Parijans for undertaking intensive and vigilant Tap Sadhana of Gayatri Jap (24,000 mantras), self-control and an in-depth study of Gurudev’s literature with a view to accessing and assimilating divine vibrations of higher realms of consciousness.
Beginning of the Indian Vikram Samvat 2062 on April 9 – Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.. It is believed that Lord Brahma set into motion the Time-Space bound process of creation on this sacred day of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada nearly two billion years back (to be exact 1,96,08,53,106 years). Maharaj Vikramaditya started the Vikram Samwat on this very sacred day.
Coincidently the Jayantis (birth anniversaries) of Bhagwan Jhoole Lal of Sindhu Pradesh, Guru Angad Dev of the Sikhs, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Dr. Hedgewar (founder of Rashtriya Swyam Sewak Sangh) also fall on this day. Coronations of Bhagwan Ram and Dharmraj Yudhishtra were also solemnized on this day. Foundation of Arya Smaj movement, too, was laid by Swami Dyanand Saraswati on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.
Let us prayerfully and reverently remember all these illustrious personages with gratitude and salutations; and welcome the advent of our new year with noble resolutions, pledging ourselves to work with still greater zeal, vigor and dedication towards furtherance and fulfillment of the aims and objectives of our Mission.
The Mission has especially charted out concrete plans to be executed over the seven-year period of 2005 to 2011-12 (which will be the centenary year of Gurudev) towards educating and awakening of youth around the globe, particularly those hailing from families rooted in the hoary Indian heritage, and make them the torch bearers and messengers of Yugrishi’s vision of establishing Heaven on Earth: knitting together the human family on conscious realization of our fundamental unity in the Spirit. This will necessitate the taking up of focused and intensive Tap Sadhana by the Parijans so that they become surcharged with the divine energy needed to be able to fully and unconditionally consecrate themselves towards the fulfillment of Gurudev’s vision.
We have spelt out the details of the seven–year youth awakening program in April 2005 issue of Hindi Akhand Jyoti and propose to publish it in English in this bi-monthly magazine in its May-June 2005 issue. We have already firmed up two special leadership-training camps for the youth (both men and women) of Indian origin living abroad, between the age group 15-26 years. The first camp is for 50 youth from USA and Canada from July 10-23 and the second for the youth from UK and Europe from July 27 to August 10 this year. We firmly believe that these training camps will prove to be the forerunners and pace setters of a worldwide movement for awakening of youth to the dire necessity and divinely–willed inevitability of an upward paradigm shift of human consciousness from the ego-based and divisive life of the lower mind to the unitive and inclusive realms of superamental consciousness. We the Gyatri Pariwar Parijans have an humble but crucial role to play in this regard. Let us rededicate ourselves to work singlemindedly for the realization of Gurudev’s vision.
With love and prayerfilled wishes for Vikram Samwat 2062,
Pranav Pandya
