We are just about 900 days away from the beginning of our Gurusatta’s centenary year celebrations and have to focus our energies to ensure that all prior preparations are in place before February 08, 2009. In fact, we have to meticulously plan out and start putting into practice our individual and collective Sadhana over the one year period between Gayatri Jayanti Parvas 2008 (June 13) and 2009 (June 02). We ardently and heartfully appeal to all Parijans to pledge themselves to this Sadhana, which is aimed at making each parijan and group of parijans, superconductive channels of the transforming spiritual energy permeating the deeper layers of the collective human consciousness. This divine energy field is waiting for suitable mediums for its visible manifestation in the human consciousness – cleansing it of all that is sordid, squalid, perverse, divisive, and devilish in it and filling it with Divine attributes of Love, Light, Harmony and an intuitive feeling of interconnectedness and loving kindness.
Poojya Gurudev, in an introduction to his book titled “Super Science of Gayatri”, writes – “Gayatri Sadhana bestows extra-ordinary benefits on the devotees. Many persons have performed Gayatri Sadhana under my guidance and I have myself been witness to the material and spiritual benefits achieved by them through this Sadhana. The reason is that they get true discriminative wisdom as a divine gift in the light of which all infirmities, complications and difficulties, which make people unhappy, worried and miserable, are solved.” Therefore, the parijans are urged to think again about the importance of Sadhana and the results obtained by pursuing it seriously. How should the Birth Centenary of ‘The Seer of Era’, who spent his whole life making Gayatri Sadhana easily accessible to the masses, be celebrated? If we are convinced about Gurtudev’s spiritual accomplishments of Gayatri Sadhana, a strong resolve should evolve from within us parijans to make each and every point on this earth illuminate with the effulgence of Gayatri. This will be possible only when we ourselves become Sadhaks. When Upasana is combined with Jeevan Sadhana, then only its results are visible; and one can see the miracles if this combination is augmented by Aradhana. For the new parijans, the Sadhana of Tripada Gayatri consisting of Upasana, Atmashodhan and Aradhana, has been outlined in the very first article of this issue.
Our aim should be to reach out to one and all and make them aware of the significance of Gayatri Sadhana and at the same time uplift our own spiritual level by performing some specific Sadhanas. The latter is possible by two means:
1. Every Year Perform Sadhana in Yugteerth Shantikunj
Shantikunj has been the seat of Seer-sage and ascetic par excellence Vishwamitra. Poojya Gurudev and Vandaniya Mataji have done intensive Tapa in the development of this Teerth. Since its establishment millions of sadhaks have performed Japa Anushthans here. Everyday thousands of sadhaks perform yagya in 27-kundiya Yagyashala. It is a Siddhaashram. A sadhak performing sadhana in such an environment supercharged with spiritual vibrations not only fulfills his / her worldly desires but also returns home highly inspired and full of inner strength. Therefore, the parijans should make it a rule to attend one 9-day sadhana – session in Shantikunj once in a year. This practice will boost their inner power and also make them fit for doing Aradhana.
2. This year perform Gayatri Abhiyan Sadhana
The dedicated parijans should accumulate the wealth of sadhana by taking up one-year Abhiyan Sadhana from forthcoming Gayatri Jayanti (13th June 2008). This sadhana involves Japa (chanting) of Gayatri Mantra 5 lakh times in one year. Normally this is accomplished by performing japa of 10 malas (one mala is equivalent to 108 repetitions) on week days, 15 malas on Sundays, and 24 malas on each Ekadashi (eleventh day in lunar fortnight). In order to achieve control over senses, the sadhak has to observe fast on Ekadashis. There are three Navratras in a year. One Laghu anushthan of 24000-japa is performed in each Navratra. Observing celibacy is always beneficial for health. However, it should be strictly observed during navratra sadhanas. Gayatri Yagya of 108 oblations should be performed every month, preferably on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha (bright lunar fortnight). This sadhana is done to achieve a specific spiritual attainment. However, other benefits automatically accrue.
Detailed guidance about these Sadhanas may be obtained from Gayatri Teerth, Shantikunj, Haridwar (Uttarakhand). One should seek prior permission to do Sadhana at Shantikunj.
The world will be celebrating, on May 19, the Jayanti of one of the most pivotal figures in the history of human kind – Lord Buddha, whom the Indian tradition considers the Ninth Avatar - just after Lord Sri Krishna. Our Gurudev has often referred to Lord Buddha, the Dharma he preached and the Mahasangha he founded – in his discourses and writings and while organizing Gayatri Pariwar.
Let us invoke in ourselves the grace and blessings of these rare Teachers of humanity on the sacred Parvas of Buddha Poornima and Gayatri Jayanti. Let us follow their footprints.
With prayer-filled wishes for all our readers and all parijans,
(Pranav Pandya)
