5th International Festival on Yog, Culture and Spirituality
Indian culture is described as one of the first cultures in the world extant over 5000 years now with lots of diversity and changes in it. The current resurgence of our traditional practices of spiritual and healing arts is an effort to preserve the roots of Indian culture and help share them with the world. The central theme and essence of our culture was to see the entire world as the manifestation of the self with various insights into it providing solutions to the problems of modern era as well. Yoga, for example, is one such practice that can be traced back to our Vedic scriptures, which are a rich source of knowledge in themselves. Sage Patanjali then played a key role in systematizing the truth of Yoga, which aims at maintaining a state of mental and physical equilibrium under all circumstances. After the exposure of science of yoga, initiated by Swami Vivekananda in the Western World, yoga in its most efficient form is being adopted for holistic development in various parts of the world now. Yoga along with Complementary & Alternative Medicine Systems (CAM), including Ayurveda, acupressure, pranic healing, panchkarma, etc., are being used for the treatment of various disorders across the globe today. Hence, it deserves to be the central theme of our festival as well.
