Is There a Possibility of Rebirth?
There was an Income Tax Officer, named Brij Bihari Lal, in Ghaziabad. One day (in July 1970), one of his sons startled everyone when he talked about his previous birth. According to him, in his past life he was a Muslim hailing from Lucknow.
The officer told about the entire incident in this way - We belong to the Agarwal Vaishya community of Meerut. The famous lawyer of Meerut Late Badrinathji was my grandfather. When this child was born in our family, we named him Subhash. When I was promoted to the post of Income Tax officer and transferred to Bareilly, this boy also accompanied the family.
Everything was going on well. But things took a dramatic turn on the occasion of the birthday of his elder brother. A feast was thrown to mark the occasion and we bought him a carrom board as a gift. When Subhash and his elder brother were playing carrom, suddenly they began fighting over something.
Coincidently, at that time Subhash recollected some events from his previous life. He threw the carrom board to one side and angrily shouted at his brother- ‘Take your carrom board. I am not a poor man; I am an effluent person from Lucknow. I still have ninety thousand bucks lying buried beneath my house in Lucknow. I can buy not one, but thousands of such carrom boards with this money.’ That was the moment from which he began revealing the incidences of his past life.
When we asked the child Subhash that who was he in his previous birth, he replied- ‘I was a Muslim in that life. My name was Mohammed Khan. I was a very rich person and lived in Lucknow.’ Then he was asked numerous questions which he answered at once. When we asked him where he lived in Lucknow, he told that it was the Kesar Bagh area.
When he was asked questions like what was his occupation? Who were his family members? He replied- ‘My father-In-Law was very wealthy. He had no son, but only daughters. So he kept me with him and made me the successor of all his property.
The name of my wife was Shafiya Khan. I had four sons and two daughters. Two of the sons were studying in the Osmania University in Hyderabad. One of my daughters was married in Lucknow, while the other in Allahabad. At that time, I used to offer Namaz five times in a day and kept Roza. I even had a car.’ When he was asked the number of his car, he told it was- USJ 3289. We asked him- ‘Do you have some other belongings in Lucknow?’ He said- ‘Yes. Muslims are very fond of applying surma in the eyes. At that time I had four surma boxes made of gold which were kept in my almirah.’
When asked whether he remembered how he died in his previous life, he replied- ‘Yes. I remember it. One day, I was standing on the terrace of my three-storied house. Suddenly, a monkey came and attacked me. I was frightened and began running. But, I slipped from the high building and fell directly on the ground. I died on the spot. Now I have been born here.’ Upon investigation, all these events were proved to be correct word by word. Moreover, even those ninety- thousand bucks were recovered from the place which he mentioned.
There is another such event that occurred in England and that convincingly proves the truth of the phenomenon of re-incarnation. A fatal road accident in North Borland, England, resulted in the death of two young girls; Jonah and Jaclyn. Jonah was eleven while Jaclyn was only six years old; and the two were very intimate. After sometime a lady named Pollack conceived and in due course of time gave birth to twin daughters. One was named Gillian and the other Jennifer. As these twins grew up and acquired precise memory, they began to display a peculiarity in their usual behavior. Now, they would, very often, chat with each other till late at night; sometimes weep and sometimes laugh, at other times they would unexpectedly start shrieking woefully. The consultations and treatments of qualified psychiatrists also did not provide any clue to the causes of such abnormal psychic symptoms.
However, one day they themselves disclosed their hitherto concealed secret related to their earlier lives, when they had died as a result of a road accident. The story of their accident, as narrated by them, was confirmed by their previous-life guardians. Their bodies in the present new physical attires possessed identical scars and marks as they had in their past life bodies; they also exhibited striking similarities in their habits.
These stories prove that the soul continues its journey while changing bodies. If the deeds done by a person are good then the consequences are also auspicious and the next life is comfortable. Therefore, we should always try to do noble deeds.
