Gayatri Parijans should Come Forward to
Reform the Nation
There are no two ways about it - our nation needs a reformation! This means, we need a massive improvement to what exists today if we want better social, political, and economic systems. Corrupt social atmosphere, perverted thinking and narrowmindedness have engulfed the human psyche to such an extent that, unless a collective resolve for reformation emerges, the dream of a golden future will remain unfulfilled.
What should be the role of Gayatri Parijans, the volunteers and representatives of this great mission called ‘Yug Nirman Yojana’, in this reformation? Before writing on the subject, let us mull over the virtues that are supposed to be present in a representative of Gayatri Pariwar. The role of soldiers is decided according to the prevailing circumstances.
During peacetime, they are kept engaged in routine tasks. But during war, soldiers focus solely on protecting the country. Also, during wars, the roles of engineers, doctors, teachers, and other professionals also get redefined to prioritize dealing with emergencies first. Likewise, in normal times, the role of a parijan of Gayatri Pariwar is to refine the self. But, the present time is no ordinary time. This is the period of a transitional era.
Therefore, a parijan’s role for this period will also change accordingly. We have to intensively work for the upliftment of society. This demands that the parijans should not only possess integrity of character but also agility of mind. They should also have the courage to fulfill their responsibilities.
Only those parijans, who regard these struggles as good fortunes and challenges as opportunities, can be called the Srujan Sainiks of Pujya Gurudev. We need such people, who possess youthful enthusiasm, in whose veins runs the blood of revolution, who are ready to sacrifice themselves to uplift the society and reform the nation at large, and whose emotions are pure and brilliant.
Only such parijans can emerge as the source of inspiration for reforming this country. It is also essential that a representative of Gayatri Pariwar should have the fire-like radiance in his or her thoughts, effulgence of personality and excellence in aims.
If our lives are not overflowing with positivity, then negative stagnancy will become a burden for us, and a cause of sorrow for others. Stagnant water spreads foul smell in its surroundings, becomes a shelter for deadly insects, bacteria and viruses, and causes diseases to spread. If the same water flows continuously, it becomes a river and becomes the source of water supply to homes and farms. The life of a representative of Gayatri Pariwar should be akin to the flowing river.
It should have the flow of positivity, new vision and new thoughts. A person, who possesses these qualifications, can be called a true representative of Gayatri Pariwar. He needs to first think about his or her goal of life. He needs to contemplate that God has given him / her such a beautiful body, a brilliant mind and a good moral sense, using which he / she can serve as a representative of God. Unfortunately, most people today have limited their aims to worldly achievements. Is it the aim of humanity to live only for selfish interests? Or, is snatching things from others, the way animals do, the aim? One should not be evaluated by which family he / she is born in, whether he / she owns a house, how much he / she is educated, or how much he / she earns in his / her job. Rather the value of one’s life must be defined by the nobility of one’s goal, and the efforts he / she is investing to accomplish it. Today, each and every parijan of Gayatri Pariwar needs to first determine the goal of his or her life. He or she needs to think whether he or she is doing justice to being born as a human being. Or, have social pressures and our unending worldly desires caused our lives to veer off course? Gayatri Parijans must resolve to live a life befitting a human being. Our thinking, character and behavior should be such that it becomes a source of inspiration for others. While deciding our life’s goal, we should consider Pujya Gurudev’s three requirements for creating a community: healthy body, pure mind and civilized society. If we desire, we can make ‘health for all’ as the aim of our life and start working towards it.
One can open a Yoga Kendra in one’s town where he or she can begin training people free-of-cost in simple Pragya Yoga propagated by Pujya Gurudev, and simple modes of Pranayama, sadhana, and so on. Swami Vivekananda once said – ‘We need such sadhus who can read Gita and also play football.’ In today’s world, when diseases have made human bodies their homes, there is dire need of establishing yoga and naturopathy centers in every village /town. If we decide our goal to be ‘the purity of mind’, then we can open a reading room or library. We can arrange to send Pujya Gurudev’s literature to the masses for free. A simple way of distributing Yug Sahitya is to utilize our time when travelling in a bus or train.
Lakhs of our parijans travel daily for personal, business or official work. If each of those parijans encourages 2-3 co-travelers to read our books / booklets, then eventually lakhs of travelers will benefit.
The third requirement is about creating a civilized society. In this direction, our parijans can choose tree plantation campaign, cleanliness drive or any of the seven programs of our mission for uplifting the society.
For each of these, there is a separate department in Shantikunj, Haridwar for obtaining proper guidance. Pujya Gurudev’s intention behind these instructions was to unite all parijans, and encourage them to collectively fight against evil trends in society and create a new society filled with virtuous traits. In order to accomplish this objective, we need to accelerate our collective efforts.
This is not the time for pausing and mulling over other subjects. This is the time of bringing about a revolution in our thoughts and actions, so that our Gurudev’s resolve of ushering in a new era is accomplished in due time. This is the dire need of the hour.
With Prayer-filled Wishes for Happy Dussera and Prosperous Deepawali,
